Christopher Tricarico is a founding partner of Tricarico Chavez
LLP. Mr. Tricarico concentrates his practice in the entertainment and
media industry. He represents individual and institutional clients in
various transactions in connection with all aspects of the development,
production, financing, and distribution of motion pictures, television
programming, music videos, video games, music, animation, publishing and other
entertainment content. Mr. Tricarico’s knowledge of both the legal and business aspects
of the entertainment industry allows him to provide clients with specialized
services, including risk assessments on copyright and other intellectual
property matters, complex clearance/rights issues and chain-of-title problems,
financing and distribution arrangements, and employment and guild
matters. Mr. Tricarico counsels on, structures and negotiates numerous
types of agreements, including agreements for the option and acquisition of
intellectual property rights split-rights, joint venture and co-production
agreements license, distribution, development and production agreements
single-picture and multi-picture financing agreements film library acquisition
agreements agreements relating to equity investments in production companies
and profit participations first-look agreements publishing agreements
merchandising arrangements promotion and endorsement agreements and executive
employment agreements. Mr. Tricarico's clients range from independent production
companies, producers, writers, rights holders to financiers, and include
Anonymous Content, The Estate Of Philip K. Dick, The Salomonsson Agency, Yellow Bird Productions, Hollywood Gang, Toei Animation Studios, The Zorro Estate, Scott Free Productions and Wondros. Mr. Tricarico received a bachelor of arts degree in English and
Journalism from the University of Southern California in 1987, a masters degree
in Journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in 1990,
and his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991.
He is admitted to practice in California and a member of the
State Bar of California. Mr. Tricarico has been an arbitrator and member
of the Independent Film & Television Alliance, and has written extensively
about licensing, merchandising and music issues and the law.
Mr. Tricarico also serves as the legal advisor to the Sundance
Institute and Film Independent, is a member of the Producers Guild Of America
and serves on the PGA independent film advisory committee. Mr. Tricarico is also an Emmy-nominated producer.
